这两天，西宁的孙德彪让我把电脑送到西宁去，我让他把我的电脑送到湖南来，这台电脑也不会还给他，违约的人不是我，我也没有骗过他们，谁要代替他们起诉我也请自便。如果你们认为他们的钱好骗的话，请拨打电话与他们联系，09713930444 09713524664 13897211026 。至于我收了什么钱做了些什么事，请点击查看。伍岭的文章很精彩，骂得很过瘾，虽然他早就声称与没什么文化也不懂道理的我绝交了，我一直订阅他的文章，后来发现文章写得越来越没劲，直到最近骂我的这篇文章，他又重新关注公共话题了。可是，我从这篇文章觉得他比我更没文化更不讲道理，他坚持认为去GOOGLE上访对不起GOOGLE，认为我缺德，我觉得他应该就骂我"缺德"这事向我道歉。当然，我会在网志年会期间就GOOGLE发垃圾邮件等事情让GOOGLE公开道歉，也会正式通知伍岭向我道歉。

这两天，我被迫在DOUBAN的周方周末小组灌水，那里文人太多，思维不清晰的人也多，谈主义的多，跟他们PK太伤脑筋，遇到一分为二的人更是恼火，我又没想着进入报刊媒体行业，朋友不需要解释，敌人不相信解释和证据，跟陌生人讲话又确实浪费时间，以后不去了。

这两天，发现硬盘终于出问题了。电脑安装了冰点还原软件，好处是不怕病毒了，坏处是开机时没有磁盘检查了，断电和CPU温度过高多次导致非法关机，又没有开机磁盘检查来修复这些小问题，现在才发现造成的伤害积累下来越来越多，以至于无法识别磁盘了。PQ和FDISK都进入不了，用DISKMAN能进去却无从下手。

卫星接收器的管理密码终于查到了，能重新盲扫到凤凰卫视和凤凰资讯，看得到闾丘露薇了。可是中央最近换了卫星信号到鑫诺3号、中星6B和亚太6号，我的天线又是用水泥卡在楼顶上的，我懒得换星，能看到凤凰台就行，其它国内台对我没有吸引力。

晚上在MSN上头一次跟中国新闻周刊的秦轩聊天，他不了解我的稀奇古怪的生活经历，他以他的生活经验来认为我"受什么伤害不想去面对了"才回到老家做小生意，认为我自己骗自己，认为" 回来卖菜叫撒娇"，不明白我的想法也应该明白京城米贵白居不易啊，在城里要为一个小小的房子奉献终身，要享受快节奏的生活和被污染的空气，这种城市生活有什么值得我羡慕的？他不相信我25出头就自称了解媒体行业、了解IT业、了解城市然后对这些失去兴趣。我相信除了去我家吃过土鸡的许亮和Joseph，没有几个人了解我除了有一个比我大四十岁的老爸，还有两个没考上大学需要长期服用氯氮平的姐姐。就算没人相信我的坚持卖菜的信念，也应该从我善于"胡闹"的经验中相信我的知识面和悟性可以赚到钱吧。在小镇赚钱创业没有想像中那么难吧。《阿甘正传》里的阿甘在经历过许多后还念念不忘他的养虾的梦想，而我的卖菜也许只是一个梦想而已，也许真的如你所愿只是我在做秀而已，但愿你能猜到作秀有什么好处。作为订阅者的你，还是退订吧，别看我作秀了。我这样的没文化没教养的人不值得你关注。

回想起中国青年报的林天宏曾在《未经过滤的新闻》中这么说：

然而周曙光似乎并不在意这些非议，他甚至很卖力地帮助本报记者在网上寻找一些批评他的文章。这些文章中不乏"做秀"、"炒作"、"想出名想疯了"之类的尖锐批评之词。可他满不在乎，起码表面上看是这样。

今天十七大，不知道开明派有没有获得更多的力量，据说党意识到神经传递已经出现了问题，准备修改党章来保证党员的越级投诉得到回应。

关于尊严、巴结、高调这个话题，我承认我很做事很高调，做人的调子就不如人们想像的那么高了。我把我自己的心态放得很低，正如伍老师所说的，我什么都输得起，我可以吃盒饭，坐硬座，睡火车地板，我会尊重每一个把我当朋友的人，我能任人家骂两个星期不还口，我会帮助那些我帮得到的人，我会接每一个电话回复每一封不是SPAM广告的邮件，我不认为我是名人。我公开了我的联系方式包括手机和EMAIL，我的GTALK上有很多联系人，但我极少主动找人说话，找我说话或给我电话的人全是有话要我说的，不存在我巴结别人或别人巴结我的现象。我也未曾巴结别人，我有知名媒体的记者和知名人士的电话，如著名网民 和菜头、知名作家连岳、法学专家贺卫方、著名网站的站长罗永浩、大黑客黄鑫、黑客圈名人吴鲁加、外籍友人冯三七、大名人KESO、技术高手冯大辉、BLOG前辈车东、DONEWS前技术总监霍炬、超级大胖子郝培强、沉默Hiker SiC、著名愤青伍岭、著名维权英雄吴苹和其它IT公司老大的电话，可我从来不巴结他们，跟他们打交道是不卑不亢的，有话就说，有忙就帮，没事我也不打扰他们，也不跟他们攀交情，我也没打算沾他们的光去得点什么利益。我拉他们出来并不是要给自己贴金，而是我认为，everybody is somebody，如果你真的跟他们有话要说，你们可以去搜索他们的网站，找到他们的EMAIL，让他知道你是谁，他们不会不理睬你。

许三多说，跟陌生人讲话是浪费时间。我说，去巴结别人也是浪费时间，而写BLOG可以让别人知道你是谁，所以说，写BLOG不算是浪费时间，写写BLOG对于将来某一天被人家陷害时有帮助，至少还有个地方可以发自己的广告，不是么?

最近很火的电视剧《奋斗》，片尾曲居然是《相对》，子曰乐队演唱的。可能很多人对子曰乐队比较陌生，实际上到算得上中国潜在最流行的乐队--中国人看过电视的都应该听过子曰乐队唱的东西，就是脑白金的那个“今年过年不收礼，收礼还收脑白金，啊~啊~"。子曰这么有个性的乐队怎么做了这个烂广告。

子曰乐队第一张专辑《第一册》在 97 年出版，《相对》就是这张专辑里的。那时候刚喜欢听点摇滚，同宿舍的小毅告诉我，”知道现在什么乐队最火？子曰！“，没过几天，市面上就有专辑了。开始最喜欢《乖乖的》，慢慢的，觉得整张专辑都很有味道，尤其是《相对》。没想到，10年过去，这首歌居然有人拿来用。可能是编剧石康这老朋克喜欢这歌的缘故?

第一张专辑之后，子曰似乎陷入了一些商务上的问题，以致于新专辑遥遥无期，主唱秋野搞了一个行为艺术之后宣布乐队解散，之后是乐队更名，多少有些让人扼腕。毕业后参加工作那年，子曰的《第二册》终于出来，可惜很多歌词被屏蔽的支离破碎，整章专辑都是一些隐语，很有些憋的慌的感觉。

这么多年后，在电视上能听到子曰，感觉很亲切。

    I am writing an Oracle performance tracking utility -- oramon. And I have finished the first version of it, to make it more powerful, I compiled a windows version binary for free download. What this utility do is query some data from Oracle performance views periodically and write them out to some OS files. Then we can analyze the Oracle performance problem with the data stored in these files.

    As we cannot keep eye on the database server for whole a day, we should have a tool to track some data for later analyze. The another reason is that when you login to the database after get a performance complain, every seems fine, because the load spike time may be very short. As a DBA, this is not a reason that you cannot get it resolved.

    Now you can try it, if you get a performance problem, just send the generated files to me, and tell me the time (no exact time required) you get bad performance, I can do some analyze remotely without accessing your database server. To use it, create an oracle user with select_catalog_role role granted.

    For remote database, run the following command.

oramon -u username/password@tnsname [-v version]

    For local database, run the following command.

oramon [-v version]

    For Oracle 8i or 9i, specify "-v 9", "-v 10" for Oracle 10g. I promise you will be interested with this utility.

Over time, the 'review followup' section on asktom turned into "let me ask you a new question here" section.  I found I spend almost all of my time doing nothing but review/followups (about 100 per day).

I've decided to change that.  I'm going to start ignoring (or deleting - haven't decided) review/followups that are not relevant to the original question that was asked:

That is what pops up now if you click on the review link.  My goal is to take 10 new questions almost every day during the week.  I work in various time zones and at various times - so the time of day the "I'll take new questions" will vary - but mostly expect to see it sometime between 6am and midnight - US East Coast time.

Hopefully, over time, I'll build of an archive of more "time relevant" questions as the review/followup bits drop off and new content is constantly added.

Release Found: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Xendump is a facility for capturing vmcore dumps from Xen guests. It is built-in to the Xen Hypervisor. Vmcore dumps are useful for analysing system crashes, using the tool crash. Crash is similar to traditional Unix crash tool, and it provides stack traces and other debugging functionality for locating problem areas causing the crashes. A similar facility, but meant for non Xen-enabled kernels, is called Kdump. To find out more about how Kdump works, please read kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_105_9036.shtm.

To configure Xendump follow the steps described below:

1. Enable the Xendump facility. Edit /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp and change the following line

   #(enable-dump no)
   

   to:

   (enable-dump yes)
   

2. Restart the xen daemon:

   # service xend restart
   

3. To make sure that Xendump works, start a Xen guest:

   # xm create /etc/xen/<domain>
   

4. Capture a vmcore by typing:

   # xm dump-core <domain-name> <vmcore-file>

Take note that, right now, Xendump can be configured to capture vmcore dumps of para-virtualized (PV) Xen guests automatically upon a crash. However, vmcore dumps from fully-virtualized (FV) Xen guests can only be taken manually by running the xm dump-core command.

    The ocidiff utility is just a peer-to-peer compare utility, it cannot get all of our problem resolved. For some big tables, for example the sales or the bill invoice tables, we may store the data in separate tables, or them in the same table between different databases, or different tables on different databases. When we need to make the table structure changes, we need cheat them all as one. If someone missed one column on some tables, it's not easy to identify them out manually, when you roll out the new application code, it may cause your application run into error, and you have to spend a lot of time checking the application log files to get the root cause.

    So a script which can perform table structure compare between multiple tables and multiple databases is required. I wrote a Perl script for this task, I named it "compare any column" utility (download). I also add index compare features into it, the indexes are not compared by name, they are compared by the the column orders, seems more intelligent than the ocidiff utility.

    I designed three compare types in this utility.

    1, HOST type. Compare structure of different tables in the same database host. For example: "SALES_CHINA", "SALES_US" etc.

    2, TABLE type. Compare structure for the same table on different databases host. For example: the "SALES" table on database "CHINA" and database "US" etc.

    3, ALL type. Compare structure for different tables on different databases hosts, For example: "SALES_CHINA@CHINA", "SALES@US" etc.

    With this utility, we find out a lot of table structure and index structure out of sync problems, and get them fixed before application start to use them.

    ocidiff utility is one of my own version of DBDiff utilities. There are several key tasks in this utility, let's see how it works?

    How to get the SQLs to create the missing tables? In this utility I compare the table names with a merge logic, when missing table found, I write down the table name in memory, and finally use the export (exp) utility to extract the SQLs. First export these tables with "rows=no" options from the source database, and then run import (imp) utility with "show=yes" and "indexfile=" options to get the SQL syntax, still connect to the source database, and then process the index log file, remove the tablespace clause. Because it's hard to write a function to extract the SQL syntax correctly, and the DBMS_METADATA package does not work well. So when you start to use this utility, make sure the export and import utilities are version compatible to your source database version.

    How to get the missing column added? When the same tables appear in both source and target database, I will compare the columns, column order is not important. The first step is to check the column name, the second is to check the column type (include precision and scale). If missing column found then write a add column SQL. Else write a modify column SQL. However, the default value property is not copied, and all the constraints (except the not null property) is not copied also.

    How to get the missing indexes fixed? This step is not smart enough, because it compare the index by name only. And the index creation SQLs may not be extracted correctly.

    How to get the views fixed? If the view is missing on target or the view is in invalid status on target or the last DDL time is newer than the target database, it will be recreated. For the source (types, functions, procedures, packages, triggers), use the same logic as views.

    It's seems not a official software, but it fits for us, a command line DBDiff utility.

In preparation from a few upcoming articles I created a script called monitorCpuUsage.sh. It is meant to be called from crontab and to inform you of processes or users who maybe using excessive amounts of cpu.

Here is the help screen:

# ./monitorCpuUsage.sh -h
Usage: monitorCpuUsage.sh
-u starting uid, must be an integer greater than or equal to 0 (only used with "-w users")
-m max cpu, must be an integer greater than or equal to 0 and less than 100
-w what to watch, must be "users" or "procs"
-e must contain an email address
-d specifies debug mode in which -e, -m, and -u do not need to be specified.


Here the script in use. I used the -d option which means the script sets the “maximum cpu allowed to -1″ and prints to the screen rather than emailing.


# ./monitorCpuUsage.sh -w users -d -u 100
